Baseball is played between two teams of nine across nine innings. In each innings one team bats and the other fields, and a half-innings ends after three outs. The pitcher throws to the batter, who tries to hit the ball and run round four bases to score.
Major League Baseball has 30 teams in two leagues. Twelve teams make the postseason. After the wild-card round come the division series, the league championship series and the World Series.
The regular season is 162 games, so single results matter less than in football and the best teams still lose about 60 games.
