Raptors
Opener 21 OctThe Raptors tip off their season on Wednesday 21 October at home to the Chicago Bulls, a day after the NBA's opening night on Tuesday 20 October (Celtics at Pistons, 76ers at Knicks, Thunder at Spurs). TSN's report has them hosting the Knicks the following night, though Raptors Republic's schedule lists the Knicks at home on later dates, so I have not confirmed that game.
The preseason has been rough: Miami beat Toronto 129–105 in the NBA Canada Games in Quebec City, with Kawhi Leonard not playing, RJ Barrett and Tyreke Key scoring 15 each and Scottie Barnes adding 11. The Raptors then play Orlando on 30 October in the NBA Cup opener.

The NBA has 30 teams and an 82-game regular season. Each team has five players on court. A shot scores 2 points, or 3 from beyond the arc, and a free throw scores 1.
The top six teams in each conference make the playoffs outright, and seeds 7 to 10 play a "play-in" tournament for the last two places. The playoffs are four rounds, each a best-of-seven.
There is a salary cap and a draft, which keeps spending closer than in most sports.
